LAS VEGAS — Junior middleweight up-and-comer Callum Walsh took Fernando Vargas Jr. to school in a near-shutout decision win in the co-feature of Zuffa Boxing’s Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford card on Netflix on Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium.
Walsh won 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91 in an entertaining but one-sided fight.
Walsh’s hand speed advantage was immediately evident and he continuously beat fellow southpaw Vargas to the punch. Vargas was aggressive but was slow enough with of his punches that Walsh was able to avoid many of them and counter.
