2024 KO of the Year: Bahdi-Sylve
Plus the rest of the top 10 in order and past winners year by year
A note to Fight Freaks Unite readers: I created Fight Freaks Unite in January 2021 and eight months later it also became available for paid subscriptions for additional content — and as a way to help keep this newsletter going and for readers to support independent journalism. If you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription please consider it. If you have already, I truly appreciate it! Also, consider a gift subscription for the Fight Freak in your life.
Unbeaten Canadian lightweight Lucas Bahdi had seemingly lost every second of every round as the much quicker Ashton Sylve, a heavily hyped MVP-promoted prospect, had easily outboxed him and landed way more punches than him through five-plus rounds.
But just as it appeared as though Sylve would finish the sixth round with yet another easy one in his favor, Bahdi obliterated him with as vicious and violent a knockout as one can score.
As soon as Sylve hit the mat on July 20 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, it was the clear leader for 2024 Fight Freaks Unite knockout of the year honors and indeed it stood up for the remainder of the year.
It was a brutal four-punch combination that left Sylve down face first and out cold in the center of the ring as Bahdi’s gargantuan knockout was the most memorable moment on the card headlined by Jake Paul against Mike Perry.
