Absolute shocker: Unknown Surace scores one-punch KO of Munguia
Frenchman traveled to foe's hometown, got dropped and was being outclassed before scoring the probable upset of the year

Bruno Surace, an obscure fighter from France, entered his fight with 50-to-1 favorite Jaime Munguia, one of the top super middleweights in the world and a former junior middleweight titleholder, having scored only four knockouts in 27 previous fights against a collection of opponents that were even more obscure than he was.
Three fights ago, Surace, who was moving up from middleweight, went the scheduled eight-round distance with an opponent who was 5-23-2. Five fights ago, he was forced to go the scheduled six-round distance against an 11-22 opponent. There were also opponents with these putrid records: 8-10-4, 15-39-3 and 16-36-6, all within the last three years. You get the idea.
On Saturday night, however, having been knocked down in the second round and seemingly losing every round, Surace scored the probable upset of the year by huge sixth-round knockout in the main event of a Zanfer Promotions card on ESPN+ at Estadio Caliente in Munguia’s hometown of Tijuana, Mexico.
Surace, who had survived many hard punches and combinations from Munguia, hammered his wide open opponent with the cleanest right hand on the chin that could land and knocked him out. A 10-count. A no-doubter.
