Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who a month ago posted a video to social media clearly indicating he planned to end a brief retirement few believed was legitimate in the first place, posted another video on Saturday in which he insisted that he will remain retired even with a massive payday available to him for a long-awaited all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Fury, who was vacationing with his wife, Paris, on Lake Como in Italy, and apparently been hearing quite a bit about the expectations that he would return to the ring, shot a video showing the scenic view of the lake and addressed the situation.
“Good morning people. My view off the balcony. Absolutely stunning here in Como,” Fury said in the video posted to his Instagram account. “I hear a lot of talk of the ‘Gypsy King’ returning to boxing. I ask a question of this one: For what? What would I return for? More boxing belts? Won 22 of them. I’ve got no more use for them. I’m happy, contented with what I’ve done, what I’ve achieved, what I’ve accomplished. Been around the world and back again and here we are. This is what retirement looks like for the ‘Gypsy King.’ Not too shabby.
“I’m in no rush at all to come back boxing and get my face punched in. For what? What would I return for? I ask that question.
