Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez and Sunny Edwards are both undefeated, hold flyweight world titles, have contrasting styles and are hungry to fight meaningful, legacy-making fights.
They will put all that on the line when they meet to unify 112-pound titles in a first-class showdown that for many will crown the No. 1 fighter in the division in the main event of a Matchroom Boxing card on Saturday (DAZN, 8 p.m. ET) at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Rodriguez, an aggressive action fighter, won the WBC junior bantamweight title in 2022 and this year dropped down to flyweight and won the vacant WBO title in April by decision against Cristian Gonzalez. However, Rodriguez suffered a broken jaw and this will be his first fight since.
But he did not seek a lesser fight to ease back into things after such a rough injury. He wanted the best fight that could be made, and he got it.
