A note to Fight Freaks Unite readers: I created Fight Freaks Unite in January 2021 and eight months later it also became available for paid subscriptions for additional content — and as a way to help keep this newsletter going and for readers to support independent journalism. If you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription please consider it. If you have already, I truly appreciate it! Also, consider a gift subscription for the Fight Freak in your life.
Since the last update in late April there have been nearly 50 changes in the status of various titles with belts changing hands in the ring, being relinquished or stripped, interim titles being won or those men being elevated. Among the more notable changes: Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Daniel Dubois to re-unify the four heavyweight titles to become the undisputed champion in the division for a second time; Canelo Alvarez regained the IBF super middleweight title to become the undisputed champion for a second time and then lost all the belts to Terence Crawford; Xander Zayas won the vacant WBO junior middleweight title; Jaron “Boots” Ennis vacated the IBF and WBA welterweight titles, which were won by Lewis Crocker and Rolando Romero, respectively; Keyshawn Davis was stripped of the WBO lightweight title for missing weight; and Junto Nakatani unified the WBC/IBF bantamweight titles and later vacated to move up in weight.
Here is your complete guide to every male titleholder among the four major sanctioning bodies.
