Jermell Charlo has already accomplished big things in boxing.
He won the WBC junior middleweight world title and then avenged his only loss against Tony Harrison by knockout to regain the belt in 2018.
In his next fight, Charlo drilled Jeison Rosario in the eighth round to take his unified IBF/WBA belts.
Then, in May 2022, he knocked out WBO titleholder Brian Castano in the 10th round of a rematch of their draw to unify the four major belts and become the first undisputed 154-pound champion of the four-belt era.
Now, it is on the next — an even bigger, richer and much higher profile fight than any of his others, and he knows it.
Charlo is making the audacious move to go up two weight divisions to 168 pounds to challenge undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez, boxing’s biggest star, on Sept. 30 (Showtime PPV and PPV.com, 8 p.m. ET) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Charlo knows he is the underdog and that he faces a daunting task, but he believes he will meet the moment.
