Lomachenko will have to at the top of his game especially as he's a guy who could easily still make featherweight if he wanted to and with his age, the number of fights he's had he's clearly not as good as he once was. Lomachenko's walk around weight is only 2lbs above the lightweight limit whilst Haney is a massive lightweight and when they stand next to each other Haney looks like a full blown welterweight. On top of that Haney's far younger, even more so in ring age with far less fights even more so with hard fights with only the crude Kambosos not being washed up when they fought and Haney usually dictates gloves, ring size and so on and it will be the same here. Personally i'm hoping Loma still has enough skill to overcome the disparities for one more fight. He's always the travelling fighter and i always appreciate the fighter who has natural obstacles to overcome which they can only do with superior skill. Thanks for the chat and enjoy the fights.

Fingers crossed Loma wins and can retire as a great. Hes fought everyone despite them being naturally far bigger men and won on sheer ability and superior skill. Hopefully those repeated top ;lvel hard fights don't effect him and he pulls of the win and can retire as a modern great.

Great Fight. I know a lot of folks anointed Loma a HOF'er before he even stepped in a pro ring. But imho, both he and Haney absolutely need this victory to be legitimized as Top Tier Pros. Haney has time to recuperate from a loss. But how many times can Loma lose in his toughest fights? His best victory over a chronically inactive Gary Russell, only diminishes more everyday. And his losses versus Salido and Teofimo are glaring. Add a potential loss to Haney in another big fight, and he's absolutely not HOF worthy. I don't weigh Amateur accomplishments all that much. It's like being a Pro Football HOF'er for winning the Heismann Trophy.

Double gold medalist, fought Salido who was not only over the scales but entered the ring weighing the same as a welterweight, after Salido fought a ridiculously dirty fight were the referee should have at minimum docked pts or more disqualified him and yet most thought Lomachenko won the fight. He beat Russell who was ducked by everyone on top of other great fighters who he fought before they diminished. Your argument is like saying Ray Leonard was no good because he lost to Norris and Comancho, ignoring his earlier wins and the stage of his own career and that of his opponents. Boxers aren't remembered by their losses when their on the decline but who they beat and whether their opponents were still at the top of their game.

I'm not a fan of pointing fingers and excuses. Loma was heavily favored in both losses. And that shouldn't be just swept under the rug. The entire Olympic System is heavily rigged and gamed. More so than any pro sport. Why do you think the US Basketball Dream Team was formed in the first place? We got tired of grown men beating teenagers. Something which still happens in Amateur Boxing. Why do you think these guys stay in the amateurs well into their 20's !? I've never been a mark for premature hype or amateur accomplishments. Sorry.

Bad decisions happen in all sports cut it doesn't happen every time which is why Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Lewis, Bowe, Joshua, Joyce etc have risen to the top in both pro and amateurs. Look at top pro's today and most were top amateurs. Picking basketball a sport that is only big in the US is poor compared to a more global sport like boxing. A better comparison would be association football/soccer, hockey or the 2 rugby codes or even athletics, top junior athletes overwhelmingly become the top athletes in the top tier of athletics. A boxer like Loma won gold at national title, European titles, World titles and Olympics and a record of 396 wins and 1 loss that he avenged twice unless your saying many of those fights were bad decisions.

That's fine. But there's also been countless Top Tier Amateurs/Olympians that never amounted to much in the Pros. It's only an indicator of pro potential. Not Proof. A small dose of skepticism is always healthy. And I'm wary of prospects being consistently anointed these days. Before ever actually accomplishing anything important. I'm old enough to remember World & Olympic Gold Medalist Tyrell Biggs never won a Pro Title. And was little more than cannon fodder for Mike Tyson. I enjoyed the debate. Cheers!

Yeah lots of guys fight for a world title in their second pro fight, such as a featherweight title fight were their opponent came in well overweight and who entered the ring as a welterweight and won a very dubious tight split decision in Mexico friendly majority pro Salido fan attended San Antonio Texas. People called for the ref Laurence Cole to explain himself or that he should be sacked for his dismal officiating allowing a crazy level of fouling by Salido in which over 52 seriously low blows were counted on top of repeated head butts by Salido. The Ukrainian despite most people thinking he'd still won won the title Salido couldn't claim due to being overweight won the title in his very next fight his third. Of course not all pro's make it but it says a lot that Briggs was beaten by another top amateur like Golden Gloves, double jumior Olympics Champ Tyson who turned pro as a teenager. Out of the 1984 Olympic US team Briggs was in out of the 8 US gold medalists 4 became world champions, 2 lost challenging for world titles and the other two, one didn't turn pro and the other cut his pro career short, that's not counting others in the team who won silver and bronze Virgil Hill and Evander Holyfield. Thanks for the chat, not every amateur is suited for the pro's but most good amateurs become good pro's.

Hey. Loma/Haney it's a great legacy fight for both. I'm absolutely buying the PPV and two of my friends already bought Tix. Yes I know as always, some folks are already ready with excuses. BTW, his shoulder didn't seem to bother him in the second half of the Teófimo fight. Funny how that works. But Loma can absolutely win versus Haney. Avoid "Downloading". Start fast and pile up the points. That'll prevent Devin from jab/clinching his way to victory. Bottom line. 99.9% of all truly great fighters have wins as underdogs. Here's Loma's chance. No excuses or finger pointing accepted.
