It turned out to be revenge, not repeat.
Four months after O’Shaquie Foster lost a heavily disputed split decision and the WBC junior lightweight title to Robson Conceicao, he regained the belt via split decision that did not elicit much dispute, even from Conceicao, in the main event of the Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ card on Saturday night at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.
Foster won 115-113 on two scorecards and Conceicao won 115-113 on one card. Fight Freaks Unite also had it 115-113 for Foster, who was granted an immediate rematch by virtue of a WBC order soon after their first fight on July 6 in Newark, New Jersey.
The first time they met, Conceicao won 116-112 and 115-113 while one judge scored it 116-112 for Foster in a fight that produced very little action with neither man performing particularly well, even though legions thought Foster was the rightful winner.
The rematch was a far more crowd-pleasing and high-energy affair with good back-and-forth and the boxing skills of both men on display.
