LAS VEGAS — The first time Stephen Fulton Jr. and Brandon Figueroa squared off it was to unify the WBO and WBC junior featherweight titles and resulted in an action-packed 2021 fight of the year candidate.
Fulton won a hotly contested majority decision — 116-112, 116-112 and 114-114 — for the biggest win of his of his career, which began in 2014.
Figueroa has wanted a rematch since and now it is on, though he is the one who will enter as the WBC featherweight titleholder while Fulton will fight with there being questions about where he is in his career given what has happened since his win over Figueroa.
“Round 13 coming soon,” Fulton said. “I’m thankful that he took the fight again and I can’t wait to get in the ring.”
That will happen in the co-feature of the David Benavidez-David Morrell light heavyweight showdown that tops the PBC on Prime PPV on Saturday (Prime Video PPV, PPV.COM, 8 p.m. ET, $79.99) at T-Mobile Arena.
