Fury: 'It’s the final farewell'
Heavyweight champs once again insists he is retiring after Saturday's fight vs. Whyte
When heavyweight champion Tyson Fury held a solo news conference on Feb. 28 to formally announce his title defense against WBC interim titlist and mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, he said it would be the last fight of his career.
It was almost a throwaway line from Fury when he said, “This is the final fight of my career. I'm retiring after this — $150 million in the bank, healthy, young. I’m gonna buy a massive yacht abroad. I'm retiring, I'm out, this is my final fight, I'm done.”
Few took him seriously and he moved on to other things related to the fight with Whyte, in particular Whyte’s absence from the press conference because he was in a snit over his contract terms, an situation that has been resolved.
Now that it is fight week, Fury has spoken far more forcefully and at length about this being his career finale.
