Middleweight titleholder Gennadiy Golovkin sued Golden Boy Promotions on Friday over money that he claims he is owed by the company related to his September 2018 middleweight championship rematch with Canelo Alvarez.
According to the suit, filed in the Superior Court of California for the Central District of Los Angeles County — a copy of which was obtained by Fight Freaks Unite — Golovkin alleges that Golden Boy owes him, through his GGG Promotions, not less than $3 million. He claims breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty, among other allegations. Golden Boy and GGG Promotions co-promoted the blockbuster fight.
