Devin Haney put on a masterful performance as he moved up to junior welterweight and shut out Regis Prograis with stunning ease.

Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion before vacating his four 135-pound belts to move up to 140, won a world title in a second division as he took the WBC title from an utterly ineffective and outclassed Prograis on Saturday night on DAZN PPV before a sold-out crowd of about 16,000 at Chase Center in San Francisco.

All three judges scored it 120-107 for Haney, who dropped Prograis in the third round. Fight Freaks Unite had it 119-108, giving Prograis only the first round in which very little happened.

“I did everything that I said I was going to do,” Haney said. “I went in there and I handicapped him. We knew he was going to come in with a big left hand. My dad (trainer Bill Haney) came up with a tremendous game plan along with my team. We did what we said we were going to do.

“I took (the left hand) away. I went the opposite way, away from his left hand. Occasionally, I went into his left hand to make him throw it and I countered him. Other than that I took it off the table.”

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who lured the free agent Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), 25, back to his company for the fight with Prograis, was very impressed.
