Heavyweight Efe Ajagba came to the ring not only seeking to advance his career as a contender but also to avenge an amateur loss to Joe Goodall that has stuck with him since taking the defeat in the semifinals of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Nine years later in their professional rematch, Ajagba evened the score with a dominating fourth-round knockout victory on Saturday night in the scheduled 10-round main event of a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ card at the Tahoe Blue Event Center, which opened in September and was hosting its first boxing event, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Ajagba and Goodall were familiar with each other not only because of their amateur clash all those years ago but because they have also sparred as professionals — but the real fight was not about practice and from the outset Ajagba was in control.
