Middleweight Austin “Ammo” Williams fought a smart, controlled fight to outpoint Patrice Volny in the main event of the Matchroom Boxing card on Saturday night on DAZN at the Caribe Royale resort in Orlando, Florida.
Williams notched most notable win of his career via scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113 as he went 12 rounds for the first time and won his second fight in a row since suffering an 11th-round knockout loss to Hamzah Sheeraz in June on the “5 vs.5” card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“This is what we train for — hard fights and tough guys who want to win,” Williams said. “He had never been stopped before. I was going for it, but my maturity told me I can’t go and get caught doing something. I learned from doing that (against Sheeraz). I had to beat him strategically.”
That is what Williams did as he used his boxing skills while going on the offensive in spots to pick up the hard-earned decision.
