Noel Mikaelian planned to win the vacant WBC cruiserweight title but he figured it would be a much more difficult task to secure it than it turned out to be.
Mikaelian scored two knockdowns in a one-sided third-round knockout of former titleholder Ilunga Makabu to win the 200-pound title in the main event of an entertaining Don King-promoted pay-per-view card on Saturday night at Casino Miami Jai Alai in Miami, Florida.
“I was a little nervous. I didn’t expect it so quick but I am so happy that I didn’t have to go the 12 rounds,” Mikaelian said with a laugh about his first world title fight.
