In all-out slugfest, a bloodied Jason Moloney retained the WBO bantamweight title by majority decision over Saul Sanchez, who took on his first world class opponent and gave him all he could handle on Saturday night.
Moloney won 116-112 on two scorecards and one judge had it 114-114 as they battled on the undercard of the Artur Beterbiev-Callum Smith light heavyweight title fight before a crowd of 10,031 at the Videotron Centre in snowy Quebec City, Canada. Fight Freaks Unite also had Moloney winning 116-112.
“Saul Sanchez is a warrior,” Moloney said. “I am proud to be the WBO bantamweight champion, and I was going to do whatever it took to keep my title.”
