LAS VEGAS — Throughout fight week Jaime Munguia has been mostly in the background while his promoter, Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya, has taken the role as the antagonist of undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez as their fractured relationship has been laid bare.
But as nice, humble and polite as Munguia has been — and usually is — and seemingly content to take a backseat, that does not mean he isn’t spoiling for a fight when he challenges Mexican countryman Alvarez for his crown on Saturday (Prime Video PPV, DAZN PPV, PPV.com, 8 p.m., $89.99) at T-Mobile Arena.
I am in Las Vegas covering Canelo-Munguia this week. Upgrade to a paid subscription and make sure you don’t any coverage. You’ll also have full access to all posts, the full archive, you can make and read comments and you will help support independent journalism.
