A note to Fight Freaks Unite readers: I created Fight Freaks Unite in January 2021 and eight months later it also became available for paid subscriptions for additional content — and as a way to help keep this newsletter going and for readers to support independent journalism. If you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription please consider it. If you have already, I truly appreciate it! Also, consider a gift subscription for the Fight Freak in your life.
The new year is upon us, so here is what I want in boxing in 2024:
Canelo Alvarez vs. David Benavidez. Obviously. If Canelo wants it, it’s an easy fight to make.
For the Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk undisputed heavyweight title fight to live up to the hype of bout of such massive and historic significance.
No immediate rematch between Terrence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. For what? How about Crawford challenge Jermell Charlo first at junior middleweight and Spence heal up from cataract surgery and rebound with a solid win first?
Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney for junior welterweight supremacy.
For Anthony Joshua to get the respect he deserves. He has the best resume of any of today’s top heavyweights.
Jim Lampley back behind the mic calling big fights where he belongs.
