Lineal and unified junior bantamweight champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, one of boxing’s top fighters pound-for-pound, has become a promotional free agent.

Not only has his deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing expired but so too has the exclusive negotiating window that Matchroom had with him to work out a new deal, meaning Rodriguez is now free to talk with anyone, multiple sources told Fight Freaks Unite.

However, Rodriguez and manager/trainer Robert Garcia, happy with how Matchroom Boxing has guided him, still plan to continue talking to Matchroom about a new deal before seeking other offers, one source said.

I am in my 26th year of full-time boxing coverage. Take advantage of that experience by upgrading to a paid subscription for full access to the rest of this post and all posts and comments — and support independent journalism.
