Canelo Alvarez will undergo surgery to clean up loose particles in his left elbow on Oct. 23, sources with knowledge of the plans told Fight Freaks Unite on Tuesday night.

The surgery will come in the wake of a unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford that cost the Mexican superstar the undisputed super middleweight title in their mega fight on Sept.13 before 70,482 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

I am in my 26th year of full-time boxing coverage. Take advantage of that experience by upgrading to a paid subscription for full access to the rest of this post and all posts and comments — and support independent journalism.
