Former IBF lightweight titleholder Robert Easter Jr. was shot three times on Sunday night in Cincinnati and underwent surgery early Monday to remove bullet fragments and was expected to be OK.
According to WTOL in Toledo, Ohio, Easter’s hometown, his father, Robert Easter Sr., told the outlet that his son was shot three times after being confronted at about 6:30 p.m. by a group of men who demanded money.
Easter Jr. told police than an unknown suspect approached him from behind and said, “Give me those,” referring to pieces of jewelry. Easter instead ran and was shot three times. Where he was wounded was not disclosed.
According to the report, the suspect took two gold chains, three diamond rings and Easter's cell phone.
