Heavyweight hopeful Teremoana Teremoana, in his first main event, blew away seemingly petrified DeAndre Savage by second-round knockout in a scheduled 10-rounder on a Matchroom Boxing card Wednesday on DAZN at Star Casino Gold Coast in Broadbeach, Australia.
Teremoana (12-0, 12 KOs), 28, a 2024 Australian Olympian, now has three second-round knockouts to go with his nine first-round stoppages as he continued his assault on opponents who have been unable to do anything against him.
Savage was viewed as at least a decent step up in opposition but it was all the 6-foot-6, 267-pound Teremoana, who took control immediately. He rammed his jab down the middle, backed up the 6-3, 296-pound Savage and put him away with a pair of right hands.
The shots dropped Savage (11-2, 11 KOs), 35, of Flint, Michigan, to all fours, but he crawled away and got to one knee. However, he seemed to have no interest in getting up and was counted out by referee Phil Austin at 1 minute, 26 seconds for his first KO loss.
Next up, Teremoana is headed a fight on perhaps the biggest card of the year.
