Katie Taylor, one of the greatest female boxers of all time, is ready to call it a career later this year.
The Irish national hero — a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, 2016 Olympian and two-division undisputed champion — said she plans to retire following a farewell fight in Dublin.
Taylor said she hopes her final fight will take place at famed Croke Park, where she has long dreamed of fighting. Wherever she fights no date or opponent has been set.
“We are still trying to figure the details out,” Taylor told Irish broadcaster RTE in an interview on Wednesday. “But I do have one more fight this year. It’s kind of like my retirement fight. It has been an amazing journey, the whole lot of it, over these last 20 years. I have had the highs and lows. It has been an incredible, remarkable career and I always wanted to end it here in Ireland. That’s what we’re hoping and preparing for, to have one last fight. It is going to be an amazing celebration. I just want to fight in Dublin to end my career.
