Emanuel Navarrete will seek a world title in his fourth weight class in his next fight.
Navarrete, who has won WBO belts at junior featherweight and featherweight and is the organization’s reining titleholder at junior lightweight, will next fight for the vacant WBO lightweight title.
As the current WBO 130-pound titleholder, Navarrete has the right to fight for a title in the next division above or below immediately and recently exercised the right. So, on Monday, the WBO ordered Navarrete and Denys Berinchyk to begin negotiations, sending Navarrete promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and Berinchyk co-promoter Alex Krassyuk of K2 Promotions a letter advising them to begin negotiations for the vacant title fight.
