Lamont Roach Jr. did not get the immediate rematch he wanted with WBA lightweight titlist Gervonta “Tank” Davis so plans are now in the works for Roach to move up to junior welterweight and challenge Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz for his WBC interim title, three sources involved in the discussions told Fight Freaks Unite.

The sources said the fight is being planned to headline a Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view card on Prime Video on either Dec. 6 or Dec. 20 at a site to be determined.

One of the sources said the preference is put on the event in Texas with locations such as Phoenix and San Diego also possible but that it would be unlikely to take place in Las Vegas, where most of the PBC on Prime Video pay-per-views have taken place.

I am in my 26th year of full-time boxing coverage. Take advantage of that experience by upgrading to a paid subscription for full access to the rest of this post and all posts and comments — and support independent journalism.
