Yet again, the long awaited rematch between bitter junior welterweight rivals Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall has been postponed.
On Thursday, Matchroom Boxing announced that the fight will be delayed by one month due to an undisclosed injury to Taylor, who later announced on social media that it was an eye issue that caused the bout to be postponed from April 27 to May 25 (ESPN+ in U.S., DAZN rest of world).
The fight will still take place at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England, which was an acceptable location to both sides as it is in neither man’s home region.
“Josh Taylor has suffered an injury in his training camp and his upcoming fight with Jack Catterall on April 27 has been postponed,” Matchroom Boxing announced. “The fight has been immediately rescheduled for May 25 at the same venue in Leeds. Tickets remain valid for the revised date with refunds for the sold-out event at the First Direct Arena also available, in line with the terms and conditions of our ticket agency partners.”
Later in the day, Taylor gave some details on his eye issue in a social media post.
