The Devin Haney-Teofimo Lopez fight, for which all terms had been agreed to and both had contracts ready to sign, has fallen apart because Lopez, for reasons that are not clear, refused to sign.
Haney, the former WBC junior welterweight titleholder and former undisputed lightweight champion, and lineal/WBO junior welterweight champion Lopez agreed to meet in a 12-rounder at a contract weight of 145 pounds on Aug. 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but that will not happen now.
Despite a report on Monday that the fight had been signed, it had not. Haney was on board but Lopez never signed — despite being in line for a career-high payday — multiple sources told Fight Freaks Unite. And then Haney offered his view on social media on Tuesday.
