Lineal/WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez will make his second defense against Steve Claggett on June 29 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card with former WBO featherweight titlist Robeisy Ramirez appearing in the co-feature, sources told Fight Freaks Unite.
The card has not been announced yet but while Claggett promoter Camille Estephan of Eye of the Tiger declined to say whether the fight had been finalized he did tell Fight Freaks Unite when asked that Claggett has been pulled from a fight against Mike Ohan that was scheduled for an April 11 EOTT undercard in Montreal.
Lopez was offered four potential opponents for the defense, a source with knowledge of the list told Fight Freaks Unite. Team Lopez selected Claggett over Top Rank up-and-comer Raymond Muratalla, Kenneth Sims Jr. and Elvis Rodriguez, the source said.
