The long discussed fight between WBC/WBO junior middleweight titlist Sebastian Fundora and former three-belt unified welterweight titlist Errol Spence Jr. is apparently dead with Fundora moving on.
The fight had been on the Premier Boxing Champions agenda for nearly a year but hadn’t happened due to injuries to both and moving dates.
The latest discussion centered on March 29 for the fight to headline a PBC on Prime Video pay-per-view at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, which Fight Freaks Unite reported on Jan. 11. However, while PBC and Team Fundora were on board with the timing, Spence ultimately elected not to move forward with the fight on that date.
“I’ll be back when IM ready,” Spence posted to social media on Thursday.
Sampson Lewkowicz, Fundora’s promoter, told Fight Freaks Unite their side was disappointed.
“I wish him good luck,” Lewkowicz said of Spence, who has not boxed since Terence Crawford knocked him down three times and battered him in a shockingly one-sided ninth-round knockout in July 2023 to become the first undisputed welterweight champion in the four-belt era.
