Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz let Rolando “Rolly” Romero do all of the trash talking throughout the buildup to their fight with Cruz saying simply that he would do his in the ring.
That is just what he did as he delivered a one-sided beatdown before stopping Romero — who had bragged that “this is gonna be an easy fight” — in the eighth round to win the WBA junior welterweight title in the pay-per-view co-feature of the first Premier Boxing Champions event with new partner Prime Video on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“I am very happy, I am very blessed, I am very humbled,” Cruz said through an interpreter. “I’m very proud to do this not just for me but for my family and for all of Mexico.
“I was prepared for this. I wasn’t here to just fight. I was here to terminate him and make him eat everything he ever said about me. I did my talking right here in the ring. There’s going to be a long-term champion at 140 pounds.”
