It’s a big boxing weekend led by the much-anticipated David Benavidez-Caleb Plant super middleweight pay-per-view showdown. There is also Jose Ramirez-Richard Commey. We previewed both cards. I also have an exclusive one-on-one interview with former unified heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua, who returns to the ring next week looking to get back on track. Plus we covered the collapse of the Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk negotiations and other news of the week, and looked back on the anniversary of a legendary Arturo Gatti battle.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Juggling my schedule to get in the Joshua interview so I could also attend my son’s school play.
Previewing the Benavidez-Plant PPV. How does the main event go and can the winner land a Canelo Alvarez fight?
A look at the Benavidez-Plant undercard and what we think of it, including the co-feature between unbeaten junior middleweight prospects Jesus Ramos and Joey Spencer; lightweight Chris Colbert and Jose Valenzuela, both looking to rebound from their lone losses; and Cody Crowley versus Abel Ramos in a WBC welterweight eliminator.
Previewing the Top Rank/ESPN card headlined by former junior welterweight titlist Ramirez and former lightweight titlist Commey and why it’s such a disappointing matchup.
My interview with Joshua as he prepares for to fight for the first time since losing his unified heavyweight title rematch to Usyk to face Jermaine Franklin on April 1. We discussed his change of trainers from Robert Garcia to Derrick James; picking Franklin as the opponent; what does AJ want to show in the fight; he names three ideal opponents he wants over the next year or so and which one he thinks is most doable.
Debating who has the better resume, Joshua or Tyson Fury?
The Fury-Usyk negotiations falling apart, our take on the disaster, what happened, who’s to blame and what now?
The postponement of Stephen Fulton’s unified junior featherweight title defense against Japanese star Naoya Inoue because of Inoue’s knuckle injury.
News of Top Rank’s May 13 world title doubleheader of middleweight titlist Janibek Alimkhanuly against Stephen Butler and Jason Moloney versus Vincent Astrolabio for a vacant bantamweight title.
Looking back on the 27th anniversary of the extraordinary battle between Arturo Gatti, making his first junior lightweight title defense, and Wilson Rodriguez. It was the fight that launched the Gatti legend.

If i had watch boxing for fights like Usyk v Fury or whats there names ? Clown show hype build up if i ever saw one. That one on tonight on PPV Robert Plant vs Antonio Jose Benivedez not for me a advertisement of coming attractions a step up fight that should be on Showtime regular. its is all about the tease the next fight watch this fight so you can dream about the next fight. Bait and switch once agin. Hey look you like this fight you wanna pay for it, it dont bother you great have at it. But turnabout if fair play, i see it is a hype job taking up space and money that it is not worth. GATTI GATTI GATTI rest in peace i sure hope so whatever happened people loved to watch you fight with your heart and your fists and your face. You are missed but never forgotten you and Ward. Man last time i saw Ward interviewed he had part of his skull removed to take the pressure off his brain. Talk about Men that gave there all for the sport of boxing. These clowns some of them who are running around now could not shine those mens shoes.
