There are no major cards this weekend but we still have a big show for you! There is tons of news to discuss, including everybody and their brother calling out Jake Paul; some great anniversary memories of big fights; and a celebration of “Rocky” on the anniversary of its release.

• Announcement that the suspended Ryan Garcia will participate in an exhibition bout against Japanese kickboxing star Rukiya Anpo on Dec. 30 in Tokyo.

• My reporting on the plans for WBC middleweight titlist Carlos Adames to defend against Hamza Sheeraz on Feb. 22 on a Riyadh Season card in the works.

• At age 59, Oliver McCall knocking out Stacey Frazier, 54, in the second round on Tuesday night to become the oldest former heavyweight titlist to win a fight.

• The upcoming plans for lineal/IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia that could lead him to a three-belt unification bout with Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.

• Announcement that a deal has been made for WBA welterweight titlist Eimantas Stanionis’ mandatory defense versus Shakhram Giyasov.

• Ringside memories on the 22nd anniversary of when Arturo Gatti outpointed Micky Ward in the rematch of their all-time legendary trilogy.

• Memories on the 38th anniversary of when Mike Tyson destroyed Trevor Berbick in the second round to become, at age 20, the youngest heavyweight champion in history as he ushered in a new era in boxing.

• Memories on the 37th anniversary of when Julio Cesar Chavez moved up to lightweight and laid a beating on fellow Hall of Famer Edwin Rosario, stopping him in the 11th round to win the WBA lightweight title in arguably the finest performance of Chavez’s career.

• A celebration of “Rocky” on the 48th anniversary of the theatrical release of the first movie in the iconic series.
