LAS VEGAS — Welcome to the Fight Freaks Unite recap podcast coming off a weekend that featured Gervonta Davis’ seventh-round knockout of Ryan Garcia in their mega fight on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena. We discussed that fight and the undercard as well as Joe Cordina’s decision over Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in a sensational action fight to regain the IBF junior lightweight title. We also discussed a little news and recalled the anniversary of a massive heavyweight championship upset.
Here’s what we discussed on this episode (in order):
Full recap and analysis of Davis’ win over Garcia, including the atmosphere, the second-round knockdown of Garcia, the unusual scoring of that round, the knockout and what’s next for both guys.
Recap of David Morrell’s impressive first-round knockout of Yamaguchi Falcao to retain the WBA secondary super middleweight belt and assessing his future prospects.
Recap of the two other bouts on the Showtime PPV, super middleweight Bektemir Melikuziev’s revenge against Gabriel Rosado in a horrible fight and middleweight up-and-comer Elijah Garcia’s hard-fought win over Kevin Salgado.
Cordina’s very exciting and grueling decision over Rakhimov in a fight of the year candidate.
Adrien Broner’s no show at his own press conference to announce his June 9 fight with Bill Hutchinson.
Memories on the 22nd anniversary of Hasim Rahman’s massive upset knockout of Lennox Lewis to win the heavyweight, my best pick ever, and why my friends were at this fight before dawn in the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Please give it a listen! Also: rate, review, subscribe and enjoy!

Really enjoyed the Davis-Garcia podcast. Davis' defense is surprisingly effective: he's short enough and has a long enough reach that he can protect his head and body at the same time. Ryan couldn't use his left hook on him.
Great Podcast Dan. I love the inside stuff. I had no idea one judge had it 10-10. Remarkable. It was a big round for Garcia though until he got whacked. He was hitting paydirt with his onslaught up to that point.
As per your podcast comment about people deriding Garcia for not getting up. The category of people allowed to to give him shit consists of people who have taken that shot and gotten up. It’s a very very small group of people. The rest of you arm chair critics can shut the fuck up.
