With the NFL season kicking off this weekend, boxing promoters have gotten out of the way, so there are no major fight cards. But we still have plenty to discuss with a ton of news from the week, including trainer Brian McIntyre’s arrest; Daniel Dubois’ formal appeal to the WBA seeking to overturn the result of his one-sided knockout loss to Oleksandr Usyk; the kickoff news conference for the Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou fight; a deal being made for Shakur Stevenson and Frank Martin to fight for the vacant WBC lightweight title and a lot more — plus anniversary discussion of the two significant fights.

Here is what’s on the show (in order):

• McIntyre’s arrest on Sunday for having a gun and ammunition in his bag at the airport in Manchester, England after having guided Chris Eubank Jr. to victory over Liam Smith.

• The absurd appeal filed by promoter Frank Warren on behalf of Dubois seeking to have the Usyk fight result changed to a no contest and a rematch ordered. We didn’t hold back.

• The Fury-Ngannou news conference and Fury’s comments that after this fight he wants to fight another MMA star in Jon Jones rather than defend the heavyweight championship against, you know, an actual boxer.

• The deal being made for the attractive fight between Stevenson and Martin.

• The announcement that undisputed women’s featherweight champion Amanda Serrano and WBO interim titlist and mandatory challenger Danila Ramos not only have their fight set for Oct. 27 but that the bout will be scheduled for 12 rounds with three-minute rounds being utilized like is done in men’s boxing.

• The IBF’s order of a junior welterweight title eliminator between Jose Ramirez and Arnold Barboza and why it appears the fight won’t actually happen.

• The positive drug test returned by heavyweight Joe Cusumano related to his knockout win over Adam Kownacki and what his likely punishment will be.

• A tribute to top trainer Mike Stafford, who died this week at age 67.

• My reporting on the details of the return of former junior lightweight titlist Jamel Herring, who is coming out of retirement.

• An under-the-radar heavyweight fight between Otto Wallin and Murat Gassiev on tap for Sept. 30 in Turkey.

• Memories on the 27th anniversary of Mike Tyson’s first-round knockout of Bruce Seldon to win the WBA heavyweight title and the massive outpouring of anger because so many believed that Seldon never got hit with a legit KO shot and laid down.

• Memories on the 11th anniversary of the final fight of Vitali Klitschko, who knocked out Mahmoud Charr to retain the WBC heavyweight title and then vacated and retired for a career in politics in his native Ukraine, where he has become a towering figure.
