There’s just one significant show this weekend, the Boxxer-promoted card headlined by Chris Eubank Jr. against Liam Smith on Saturday (DAZN in the U.S., Sky Box Office in the U.K.) in Manchester, England, so we delve into the fight and undercard. But there was also a lot of news of the week and we cover it all — plus a little nostalgia as well.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Golden Boy received the contract for the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia fight being planned for April 15.
The welcome news that unified junior featherweight titlist Stephen Fulton and Naoya Inoue are in the process of finalizing a deal for Inoue to challenge him for his belts in a truly outstanding fight this spring in Japan, and why it’s such a great match and how did it come about?
The pay-per-view numbers for the recent Davis-Hector Luis Garcia fight and how do they stack up to Davis’ other Showtime PPV events? How do we think Davis vs. Ryan Garcia will do?
Top Rank and Edgar Berlanga parting ways. What happened? We have answers.
Previewing the Eubank-Smith middleweight showdown. Good fight? Who has the advantage?
A look at the two key undercard fights: cruiserweight Richard Riakporhe against former titlist Krzysztof Głowacki and former heavyweight titlist Joseph Parker returning from a KO loss to face Jack Massey.
A look at Friday night’s “ShoBox” card on Showtime headlined by unbeaten super middleweights Sean Hemphill and David Stevens.
Reminiscing on the 15th anniversary of the big fight between legends Roy Jones Jr. and Felix Trinidad, who were past their prime but made for a huge event in what turned out to be Trinidad’s final fight.
