There was one notable card over the weekend, the Top Rank show on ESPN headlined by super middleweight contender Christian Mbilli’s hard-hitting but dominating decision win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko on Saturday night. We recapped it and discussed the fight and undercard bouts. We also covered several news items of the week and looked back at a pair of action-packed title fights on their anniversary.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Recap and thoughts on Mbilli’s one-sided decision over former title challenger Derevyanchenko: What it means for Mbilli having scored his most significant win; should the fight have been stopped given all the punishment Derevyanchenko was taking; more.
Recap and thoughts on heavyweight Guido Vianello’s very impressive eighth-round upset knockout of Arslanbek Makhmudov in the co-feature and blue chip lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason’s sensational second-round knockout of Mike Ohan Jr., who was supposed to be step up in opposition for the 20-year-old.

Luis Alberto Lopez suffered a small brain bleed in his massive knockout loss to Angelo Leo that cost him the IBF featherweight title two weeks ago.
Massive rant about the IBF ordering welterweight titlist Jaron “Boots” Ennis to make an absurd mandatory defense against Karen Chukhadzhian, who he shut out in January 2023 in an interim title fight, has no notable wins and does not in any way warrant a mandated rematch.
Devin Haney’s pronouncement on social media that he is looking to return following his loss-turned-no contest against Ryan Garcia in April and that perhaps it could happen on a Saudi Arabian card.
A deal being made for WBC junior welterweight titlist Alberto Puello and mandatory challenger Sandor Martin to meet this fall on a PBC card.
Condolences to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman on the pasing of his mother, Martha, over the weekend.
Memories on the 34th anniversary of Nigel Benn’s first-round knockout of Iran Barkley in a thrilling and wild shootout to retain the WBO middleweight title in an ABC-televised fight.
Ringside memories on the 24th anniversary of when Naseem Hamed scored a massive fourth-round knockout of Augie Sanchez in an action-packed HBO fight to retain the WBO featherweight title.
