As we taped this preview podcast on Thursday night it was unclear if the major card of the weekend would go forward. Because of the death of Queen Elizabeth earlier on Thursday, and a national period of mourning in the United Kingdom, Saturday’s card at The O2 in London headlined by the Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall undisputed women’s middleweight title fight and the Mikaela Mayer vs. Alycia Baumgardner three-belt women’s junior lightweight unification bout in the co-feature might be postponed. By the time you read this a decision may have been made as organizers planned to hold the weigh-in on Friday but said the card might still be called off.
With that noted, here is what’s on the show (in order):
Details on the cool stuff I am giving away from my collection in our new contest.
Thoughts on the prospect of Tyson Fury fighting Anthony Joshua later this year after making a formal offer and the Joshua camp agreeing to take the short end of a 60-40 split.
Some discussion of the date switch of the Joseph Diaz-William Zepeda lightweight fight to what will be a very busy Oct. 29 that will also include the Jake Paul-Anderson Silva Showtime PPV and the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Jamaine Ortiz ESPN+ card.
Discussion about the uncertainty — at least when we taped this — about the Shields-Marshall and Mayer-Baumgardner fights and how nuts it is to make the fighters do a weigh-in with the prospect of the event being called off.
Previewing both women’s fights and what’s at stake in each in the event that they do take place as planned.
A look at the junior welterweight bout between Joseph Adorno and Hugo Alberto Roldan that headlines Showtime’s “ShoBox” on Friday night.
