LAS VEGAS — Who will win the most significant and anticipated fight of the year? Errol Spence Jr. or Terence Crawford?
It is boxing’s most common question these days as they get ready to, at long last, square off to fully unify the welterweight titles and produce the first four-belt undisputed champion in division history — and likely crown the pound-for-pound for king.
They will meet on Saturday (Showtime PPV and PPV.com, 8 p.m. ET, $84.99) at T-Mobile Arena and everyone seems to have an opinion.
But among the more educated views on the blockbuster matchup belong to former welterweight world titleholders Shawn Porter and Kell Brook, who both lost to Spence and Crawford in championship fights.
So what do they think about the hugely anticipated showdown? Like fans everywhere, they are both looking forward to it.
“I’m excited. I was at church (recently) and they were talking about this fight,” Porter said. “This is the biggest fight and I’m excited about it. This is an outstanding fight because they both have an A+ in every box. We are going to see three different strategies from each fighter, maybe even four or five different game plans. Both of these guys have to have both in order to win the fight.”
Said Brook: “I’m very excited for this fight and everyone is talking about this fight. It’s a massive fight and for No. 1. I actually put both these guys up as pound-for-pound in all the divisions and they’re going to go after it.”
Now for their breakdowns of the bout.
