As each monotonous round ticked by the crowd seemed to grow more and more restless as it booed its displeasure toward the action-free fight it was witnessing on Thursday night.
In the end, Shakur Stevenson won a unanimous decision over Edwin De Los Santos to claim the vacant WBC lightweight title, but their reputations took a hit because the fight was that terrible, that unwatchable and that devoid of entertainment value.
How bad was it? De Los Santos set the CompuBox record for landing the fewest punches (40) in a 12-round fight of the thousands the company has tracked during its 38 years.
Stevenson, although he won a world title in his third weight class at age 26 via scores of 116-112, 116-112 and 115-113, had perhaps the worst performance of his otherwise brilliant career.
