German promoter Team Sauerland announced on Sunday that is has signed Chris Eubank Jr. (29-2, 22 KOs), who holds an interim middleweight title, to a promotional deal.
Eubank, 31, of England, has won three fights in a row since a decision loss challenging then-super middleweight world titlist George Groves in February 2018. Two fights later Eubank, the son of former two-division titlist Chris Eubank Sr., outpointed former super middleweight titlist James DeGale into in February 2019 and then dropped down to middleweight, where he won the vacant interim belt by second-round stoppage of Matt Korobov when Korobov injured his shoulder and was unable to continue in his December 2019 American debut.
“I'm thrilled to have signed a promotional deal with Team Sauerland,” said Eubank, who has been training in the United States under the guidance of Roy Jones Jr. “I look forward to the big fights that I crave. I’ve spent the last 12 months in the gym and I feel better than ever. I’m ready to take over the middleweight division. I want all the champions – (Ryota) Murata, (Jermall) Charlo, (Demetrius) Andrade, (Gennadiy) Golovkin -- put me in the ring with any of them. I only want to fight the best. This is my time. If you have a belt, I’m coming for you.”
Promoter Nisse Sauerland said he has admired Eubank and is pleased to have signed him.
“He fought on one of our shows back in 2012 and we’ve followed his career closely since then,” Sauerland said. “He's got all the attributes needed to establish his position as one of the biggest names in world boxing. Our first priority is cleaning out the middleweight division.”
The Eubanks had burned their bridges with all the top UK promoters.
Time Eubank Jr stopped talking and fought one of the top 160 pounders.
