When Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez held a super middleweight world title from 2016 to 2018 he never had the opportunity to unify belts. Now, two divisions north at cruiserweight, he accomplished the goal.

Ramirez dominated Chris Billam-Smith in a highly entertaining but largely one-sided fight en route to a unanimous decision as he unified his WBA title with the WBO belt he seized from Billam-Smith in the main event of Golden Boy’s Riyadh Season “Latino Night” card on Saturday at The Venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ramirez won 116-112, 116-112 and 116-113 as he dished out tremendous punishment to Billam-Smith, who was making his third defense.

“I feel great,” Ramirez said. “(I’m) not a small guy, I’m a true champion and everyone saw.”

It was a stellar performance from Ramirez, who won the WBA belt by lopsided decision from Arsen Goulamirian on April 30 and was in just his third bout in the 200-pound weight class taking on an opponent who has campaigned in the division for his entire seven-year career.
