Before I read this I was wondering "where was Dan during this fight?" I was pleasantly surprised to read the whole story. I was 9 years old and ditched my friends to watch the fight at my neighbor's house. I remember about a week before the fight my dad and I drove passed a billboard promoting the fight and my dad said "Buster Douglas is going to kick Tyson's ass". I think I just rolled my eyes at him. To this day I ask him how in the hell he knew and he just gives me this cocky smile 😂.

Ha! Same way I knew. There used to be this awesome boxing chat on Fridays.......a moment of silence please....anyway That fight came up and I chimed in and said I kind of expected it. I was crucified. Sacrilege! They said. Okay maybe I wouldn’t have exactly picked Buster Douglas as the heir apparent, but Tyson was riding for a fall for sure.

Holy Crap. How could I forget that fight? He had his moment, Tyson scored a huge knockdown but Douglas got out of the round. Besides that the whole fight was Douglas. I have taken a lot of grief for saying you had to see that coming, Tysons personal life was just spiraling out of control and to me it was inevitable. as ferocious as still he was, it seemed like he was ripe for the taking if you could survive the onslaught . His defense had been getting more and more indifferent. His training suspect. He had nothing but flunkies and users around him. His corner was a joke at that point, they didn’t even bother to bring an end swell to the ring that night. It happened, oh yes it did happen!
