The knockout was the second best part of the broadcast. Top honors go to Tim Bradley for his on-air anecdote about the pressure associated with holding in a fart.

No way Yarde was winning that fight. At least Robin had it right. The other 2 SMH and glad judges were not relevant.

What a great fight, it was one of those bouts that afterwards you felt privileged to be ringside. It was a real see saw of a fight with Beterbiev's better experience showing at the end. It makes you wonder what Yarde could have been as a boxer if he hadn't been such a late starter but he could leave that ring knowing he gave the Chechen fighter all he could handle. Lets hope we get many more match ups like these and Bivol will finally face Beterbiev, we know the latter wants the fight.

Unfortunately Bivol vs Beterbiev seems unlikely this year as apparently Bivol has agreed to fight Canelo at 168lbs in September.

I couldn’t care less about Canelo vs Bivol. The Bivol vs Beterbiev fight is clearly a much better one - it’s one of the few fights I’d pay to watch.

It all depends on the money Ozz it is still prize fighting and nothing will get in the way of the money. The trouble is protection money the kind that fighters and there people refuse to take fights that should be fought they do that to protect there fighter from a possible loss. this was a very good fight an it did not cost PPV money how about that. Hats off to the Plus for putting it up there and not having to go to youtube and getting a grainy shitting view of it. The way it should be. As was the main event on DAZN nice fight there last night, and few of the undercards caught my eye a upset even minor is nice to see, a stuggle to go the rounds on another card. All good stuff for boxing and boxing fans. It dont take much to satisfy most fight fans that was the case this weekend.

Beterbiev broke Yarde down, mentally and physically, until Anthony was done but it was a very good effort from Yarde.

However I question the logic of Yarde fighting domestic and relatively low-level opposition and then suddenly fighting the world champion.

This has happened to Yarde twice now - such a plan was always unlikely to be successful and wasn’t really fair to Anthony.

IMO Anthony should fight several world top ten opponents, and do very well against them, before he gets another world title shot.

Hey Ozz I watched the fight too. Ha Ha anyhow it was a good-un no one can disagree with that. The fight had lots of action little to no well actually NO dancing some movement, some subtle shifts in the ring both with defense and back and forth. I did not like Yarde when he first started boxing but as time has passed he is a good opponent up to now. Now if he takes what Better said and looks at this as gaining experince and continues to better himself he will do well. I do not see a phony --a wanna be a fighter using his past experience in things other then boxing as a entry into the ring. He has his faults all fighters do that is the fight game but he and Better have opened the door to more fights in the future fights that will show well in the ring. He Yarde has time to develop Better has time ticking along side himself. Still both due to this will allow this fight to lead to other fights as it should be.

Yes it was a really good fight John. I agree that at 31 Anthony has time to improve however I think he needs more experience against some of the world top ten 175 pounders before trying to win a world title again.

There are fights against British light heavyweights who are in the world top ten, Joshua Buatsi & Callum Smith, that would be very good fights for him in terms of money and experience - if those fights can be made.

As you say there are plenty of opportunities for Anthony now - I hope he uses them to develop his boxing as well as his bank balance.

What do you think would happen agaist Joe Smith Jr. ? The light heavy weight division is a division that has always impressed me. The weight class alone allows for power but movement and skills.

That's a good fight too for Yarde. I'm not sure who would win but someone like Smith Jr would hopefully encourage Yarde to "get back on the horse" as I'm sure he's feeling down at the moment.

Yep - light-heavyweight is a really good division historically, been some great 175lbers over the years - Ezzard Charles, Bob Foster, Michael Spinks etc.

Nowadays Beterbiev and Bivol seem to be out on their own at 175lbs, I hope they fight while they're both fighting well and don't wait until one of them is in decline.

I don't think Beterbiev could be over powered by anyone but I think he could be out-boxed by someone who has great mobility and ring craft and is able to keep him off balance, but they'd also need a good chin of course - maybe Bivol could do it but tbh I wouldn't bet against Beterbiev.

I dont like to go on a fantasy run while being in a good place with Boxing for the current moment but I will for a half a minute. Imagine if boxing was more organized more structured in there match ups at each weight division ? I know we have been around so long back in the 60's and 70's esp there was a natural flow of fights and great fighters. But still imagine if boxing could even just make some rules for the better to have the best fight the best. A tier system if you will, not these phony mandatories but real mandatory fights. Working there way up to big damn fights. We saw that happen Saturday Night by accident ? You can ansere that better then me. But still it only happens here and there in boxing. But we got a taste of what can happen, if only there was a system not a rating system that is corrupt too. But the best fighting the best, the ones who show promise meeting those in the ring who also have skills and promise ? Why not why nt fake it for a minute. It could bring Boxing back to the main stream . Everyone enjoys a good fight we just dont have enough of them or have them shown to the regular fans as much. The most mis used work in boxing fans mouths in "Casual" it is used like a threat, like an insult not like a welcome to boxing. We the fans should take notice of possible fight fans and respect that and them. Once again dreaming Ozz sorry man I do that from time to time esp after a few good fight cards. Always good knocking around the fight game with you man.

No harm in dreaming John - the best fighting the best is something all boxing fans want.

However we all know the problem and why the 60s and 70s had the best fighting the best far more often - they didn't have 4 private companies controlling everything in boxing and selling title fights to the highest bidder or due to some dodgy behind the scenes shenanigans.

It's a shame that boxing doesn't have an overall controlling federation, like athletics or cycling, rather than these 4 cabals but I can't see that happening in my lifetime, possibly never.

I guess we'll both have to be content with what we've got and keep hoping that somehow something comes along that gets rid of the 4 sanctioning bodies and cleans up the sport and things get back to the way it used to be. Keep hope alive John - speak again soon.

I find it curious that whilst fighters are aware that the sands in their hourglasses dripping away inexorably , yet they fight so infrequently! Of course, if they are financially established for life, there is no need to fight too often.
