By the time this fight happens it will be virtually 4 years since their last fight - this rematch could have happened at any point during this time and Hearn tried to make the fight several times. Canelo simply refused to rematch Golovkin and said several times that the third fight would never happen - imo it's not coincidence that this has changed now that Golovkin is 40.
Golovkin was past his prime even in their first fight in 2017 and he has declined further since then whereas Canelo has clearly improved. Consequently the most likely outcome is pretty obvious.
After the Bivol defeat at 175 Canelo has apparently said that he will fight Golovkin followed by the Bivol rematch. That would be fine by me if he dropped the 168lb belts after the Golovkin fight but it seems Canelo isn't going to do that.
If this is what happens it will understandably annoy the top rated and mandatory position fighters at 168lbs such as Benavidez.
I agree with you, I think we’ve seen the best meetings of Alvarez and Golovkin already. Bivol is simply too big for Canelo, and Golvkin is too old at this point. imho. All three of the guys are terrific fighters though. I’ll watch the rematches, but I would be excited to see Canelo Benavidez!! That would be a helluva fight.
Four years since the last fight is that right ? I have heard so much about these two guys Not Fighting again it seems like 44 years. Everyone wanted them to fight but Saul did not want to allow 3G to win any prize money bc he got offended over 3G getting angry over Saul's drug usage. Who knows in the ring I have better memories of 3G then Saul..... but it is a money fight now a promo to be pushed. Nine years is a big dif in the ring, it always shows itself in ways that are not fun to watch. If DAZN were able to put it up as part of the general sub price fine but just another money grab in boxing. Part of the fight game is sticking with a certain fighter I have done that will continue to do it, then there is the flip side hating a fighter I have done that too, will continue to do it to some degree. Promoters make a lot of money on those simple facts. Yet after a while you see thru it all your guy is not as great as he once was or ever could be, and the one you hate is still a professional fighter with a good amount of skills. After a while in the fight game you see thru it all and it becomes interesting to those that can not see the games in the game.

Great news. Looking forward to it.
