Great fight. A draw was not a outrageous outcome. Charlo pulled it together for the last three rounds, 117-111 was a bad card though. In my book Castano gets the nod.
All three official judges agreed rounds 2 (Charlo), 3 (Castano), 5 (Charlo), 7 (Castano), 9 (Castano), 10 (Charlo), 11 (Charlo), 12 (Charlo).
Only four rounds (1, 4, 6 and 8) are in dispute on the official scorecards.
Weisfeld and Cheatham gave Castano rounds 1, 4, 8. Vasquez gave these three rounds to Charlo. Note however, Dan Rafael agreed with Vasquez here and gave round 1 to Charlo also.
Cheatham and Vasquez gave round 6 to Charlo. Weisfeld gave this round to Castano. Note, Dan Rafael agreed with Weisfeld on round 6 to Castano also.
Castano then gets six rounds by either unanimous or majority (1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9).
Charlo gets six rounds by either unanimous or majority (2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12).
I had Castano winning the fight what is really lousy is hearing that this rematch will be on PPV If so then it is twice as lousy a result by the judges. Leave it to boxing......
The 117-111 scorecard is a disgrace. I personally agreed with Steve Weisfeld's 114-113 (Castano) card, but certainly could see the fight as a draw since Charlo came on strong the last few rounds. But I just don't see how anyone can make the case that Charlo won 9 rounds to 3. Insanity
Castano won - clearly. Not much else to say, apart from to wish the 117 judge is held to account.
Only Charlo and his friends seem to think he won.
As this was in Texas I’m a little surprised there was only one judge seeing things from the Charlo angle.
Hopefully the rematch will be away from Texas, if financially viable, and with a judging team who are all fair to both fighters.
However as bad judging seems to be a pandemic in boxing this hope is probably pie in the sky.

I had the main event 114-114 while Castano was up 5-3 in rounds he blew 3 of the last 4.
