Enjoyed the fight, it went the way I thought it would. Only down side is Eddie found himself another chance to have a PPV fight in the future. That little quote "if they pay me right" adds to my suspitions. Lot of interesting fights over the weekend even several of the ESPN PLUS unders held up well. And had a wild one for three rounds over at DAZN so solid weekend of fights. And I would have given Burgos the win it was tight but still a close fight. Nothing to get wired out about just a thought. And the whole thing with Martinez not making weight just shows lack of disciple it has been part of him from jump actually. that is how he got an NC on his record. Could have been a DQ so there was that back when he got noticed.
I have to confess that I fell asleep before this fight started, I woke up briefly I was so bummed because it was like the eighth round, I looked for about 15 seconds and thought “oh, chocolatito’s got this for sure” back to sleep.
I know Martinez lost $50K but there's a possibility that Martinez deliberately came in over the weight limit in order to try to gain a relatively hefty weight advantage on the night of the fight.
That's because the CSAC's two rehydration check weights were so generous that it was very unlikely that Martinez would miss them and so he would still come into the ring the heavier man.
Even if this is was the case it didn't do Martinez any good of course as Chocolatito was superb.
Gonzalez showed that Martinez doesn't really have a defence other than his offence, and when he can't over-power an opponent he doesn't really know what else to do. He was given a boxing lesson by the "old master".
Great to see Chocolatito back to his best - gonna enjoy watching him while he's still around.
Yes Ozz I have to agree that he was doing anything to get an advantage but it did not work out. Man, Choc really did a number in the ring last night that was just great to watch, I know they talk about Brady in the NFL but to see fighters of certain weight classes continue to perform at that level it was a pleasure to watch. Although I never felt choco was in danger I know a lesser fighter could have made mistakes but not him pure boxing skill in the ring last night. Pin point and all the other words people are using. Those shots to the head had to leave a lasting effect on J.C.M. long term.
Yeah I agree John - Martinez always seems to fight face-first and takes far too many punches to the head - it was particularly bad last night. Not great for his long term health.
Check this it can not be called fight of the year but how about clinic of the year in boxing...........? With all these talkers and fake stalkers this guy shows up and shows how it is done or used to be done.....
