Only downside here is that it reinforces for promoters, networks, etc. that they can get away with putting on shitty undercards and still make money as long as the main event is compelling.

It is NOT a good day for boxing, it is more money for promoters and platforms and that is really all it is. This will encourage more PPV's no matter the value. It is not give the people what they want is it tho get as much out of fans that you can squeeze out of them.

The sports bar I went to for the fight was packed with a line out the door. Good sign for boxing.

TBH I'm not impressed with the quality of either Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis - they may be two of the best around now however they're nowhere near the level of fighters from past eras.

That said, I give young Garcia a lot of credit as without agreeing to the catchweight, and that disgraceful rehydration clause, the fight wouldn't have happened. There's certainly nothing wrong with the kid's bottle.

I hope Garcia continues to improve and makes a successful comeback. While I hope Davis cops a fairly long jail sentence for what he did to that poor pregnant woman in the hit & run incident.

Yes - the hype worked. This will encourage the TV/streaming company suits and boxing promoters to keep their PPV model and continue to squeeze boxing fans until they squeak.

Hey Ozz it is getting crazy out there isnt it ? All this talk about other peoples money and how much "they" made off the fight. It is as if these podcasters and forum writers will not take an outside view of the whole boxing promoters idea of what makes a fight great. Follow me so far ? It is as if they made lots of money the promoters the platforms and the fighters, so it has to be good for boxing, and if you disagree you are cheap wont foot the bill of PPVs blah blah..They would have us believe the only barometer of how boxing is doing is by how much money is being made off the fan. .I listened to one pod where they went as far as comparing inflation to the numbers and the price of cigarettes and whatnot to further prove how great boxing is right now. But he did not compare the fights of the past with what they are putting out today and the degree of differnce in quality of fighter and fight card.(as you did) Lets all talk about someone else making money off of the fighter and not the actual fight itself or the fighters and who and what they did last week or in there past. Bury those facts. Yea people will be re watching this fights for decades to come ? Maybe not. It is like saying that was a great fight bc so many people bet on it. Makes no sense in relation to the state of boxing. Seems to be a lot of boxing influencers out there and in here as well.

Hey Dan - have you heard much regarding the issues with folks that purchased the fight via DAZN and weren’t ever able to watch their stream? I purchased just before the main card and it never loaded via mobile or my TV app, and I know tons of folks on Twitter that had the same issues and ended up having to purchase via Showtime also after having no luck getting via DAZN. I’m currently waiting to hear back from DAZN customer service on a refund, so curious how many others are in my shoes and how much double revenue was counted from folks like myself as a result. Thanks and love your work.

Can you envision a scenario in which a rematch could occur? Seems like the money would be pretty compelling. I’d love to see it as a unification fight between two champions in a couple years.
