Choco got hosed. He won this fight just like he beat Sor Rungvisai in the first fight. He was the more aggressive fighter, who threw and landed the cleaner punches.

Incredible fight that Chocolatito clearly one. What a shame 117-111. That judge should be reprimanded. Never be allowed to judge another prize fight. Let Estrada-Rongvisai fight late summer/early fall & then the Estrada- Gonzalez trilogy end of year. Gonzalez should not take another fight until Estrada trilogy. It will take some time for both fighters to recover from incredible trench warfare! Too bad for Gonzalez who has been given the short end of inept judging twice now in 2 of his biggest fights. What a class act though.

My son and I looked at each other as MB read the scores, bewildered at decision, and wondering what fight the 117-111 judge had watched. It was a great boxing match though. A think a rematch, sooner rather than later, would be great.

Love the newsletter...! Is there anything that can be done to judges (fines or taken off assignments) who give this really odd scores 117-111...! It leaves a bad taste in the mouth to all who watched Gonzalez-estrada...can’t imagine how Gonzalez feels...he gave a hell of performance...so did Estrada. I thought Gonzalez won.

Chocolatito won that fight, no question about it. IMO 116-112 at worst. The aging Chocalitito outworked and outfought the younger, bigger, stronger Estrada, who most thought would KO him. But what should’ve been a legend-sealing victory was tarnished by crappy judging on a night full of it. While there may well be a trilogy, Choc deserved the W last night. Who knows if he will be able to trick Father Time the same way next time.

Estrada was never able to impose himself on Chocolatito aside from the initial rounds in which Chocolatito, as usual, paces himself. Chocolatito did what he always does, he came forward and unleashed a barrage of punches as usual albeit a bit reserved this time around with a hint of counterpunching from time to time that made him look more poised, methodical, and ultimately accurate. Chocolatito looked even less tired this fight than he did in his previous 3 fights. The "crisper and cleaner" shots seem to favor Canelo in his fights but has not been the case for Chocolatito. No one wants to see a 3rd Rungvisai vs Chocolatito but we do want to see Estrada in a 3rd against both. On a personal note, I will never see Estrada as one of the Mexican greats unless he overcomes both boxers, and even then El Gallo is a boxer that is not as pleasant to watch.

Once again the judges got brought out, boxing is so crooked. these so-call judges know nothing about boxing all they're there is for the money they can make. Very shameful for the sport, and fighters.

It was a close, hard to score fight. But 117-111 meant that judge gave every close round to Estrada which didn't make sense. I had 115-113 Chocolatito, but a split decision was fine. I loved that both guys called for a trilogy. But nothing wrong with finishing the Estrada-Sor Rungvisai trilogy first.

I told you DTM that we were going to see the fight of the year! However I did say that Estrada would edge Chocolatito, and, even though they gifted him the win, I believe Gonzalez was the clear winner. We definitely need to see a trilogy.
