Garcia’s performance was impressive, for sure, but overall, this card was pretty forgettable. In the opening bout of the prelims, I’m pretty sure the loser went down twice from his opponent breathing on him. Sandoval vs. Jimenez was kind of fun, but the fact the guy who had a vise grip on his foe’s arm for half the fight won left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The next two fights were downright unwatchable. And in the end, Fortuna clearly never had anything to offer in the main event. Then there was all the downtime. One can only watch Ak and Barak vamp for so long. Do better, Golden Boy.

Good win for Garcia but dam Fortuna looked so small in comparison. Also on a smaller note last nights fights in the UK on Frank Warren's Queensbury Promotions made great viewing.

Golden Boy has no apparent strategy for elevating their top fighters. Garcia has promoted himself to stardom (he'd be as big or bigger with any promoter since his social media following alone propels him above most boxers in terms of leverage and visibility), and their other top guys like Vergil Ortiz, Mungia, Garcia) have no prospective makeable fights against marquee opponents. If they can't force their way into mandatory status, like Zurdo, or wait for a vacant belt to drop, they just keep fighting second (or in Mungia's case, third) tier guys.

It's depressing to watch these exciting top talents constantly talk big and call out top names, while Oscar pats himself on the back and does nothing to make any significant fights happen. DAZN having just bankrolled his company for a few more years means nothing will change, unless these guys get smart and bail for a chance to actually fight meaningful and legacy-building fights.

Floyd ain’t gave the fans what they wanted in literal decades. Tank/Ryan going to Bolivian. Tank’s next opps will be Cruz rematch, Abner Mares, and maybe Frank Martin if PBC can’t find another Mexi-Jabroni at Lightweight.
